Beyond the Sea:
A Titanic Tale of Love & Magic

You may want to glance the CAST OF CHARACTERS first...

A sunny morning in Southampton, England, where the grandest addition to the White Star fleet awaits its destiny. The immense ocean liner, the Titanic, is being prepared for its journey.

Beyond the Sea

Odd-looking, almost eerie birds fly past; the camera follows. These birds become our tour guides, flying in and out of Titanic's nooks and crannies, across the hull and around the crew. The peculiar flock promptly dives towards a small group of men standing by an open crate of Egyptian treasures which sports the symbol and name of the god "Osiris." The birds settle in the crate, and white wrappings come to life re-mummifying the weird birds which become inanimate trinkets in this coffin. Overlooking this wondrous sight is Jossef Troxler, who explains to his men they've witnessed nothing compared to the power of the gods -- which he will awaken once they arrive in New York. . .

In France, on the Le Mans speedway, we meet race car driver Claude Aulaurd -- who'll stop at nothing to win -- and lady racer, Tonya Delecourte, daughter of a British Lord.

Wednesday in Southampton, people from all walks of life are boarding the great Titanic.

In the first class section: Russian brothers, Endar, the older, wiser Menshevik, and Philip, the younger, conniving Bolshevik (the party which, under Lenin, will one day control Russia). The brothers look for peace between them and plan on meeting-up with both their mother and Endar's wife in New York.

On the chaotic dock, a middle-aged man, Dr. Pelegrine, is being chased by Jossef Troxler's men. Falling, he's assisted to his feet by a Japanese Samurai in full regalia with a parrot upon his shoulder. The doctor gives the Samurai an Egyptian fish-charm necklace, says an Egyptian incantation, and runs. Jossef's men pass the samurai before catching-up to archaeologist Doc Pelegrine...who won't be seen again.

Beyond the Sea

Later, the Swede, Jossef, now posing as Dr. Pelegrine, argues with Titanic's Second Officer, Charles Lightoller, about the storage of his artifacts.

The Titanic sets sail, having to make a stop in France before its journey truly begins. During this short jaunt, Tagoshi the Samuraia befriends a fire-man/stoker, named Graham, who helps keep the ship running. The two find common ground in their recent losses: the samurai his home, the stoker his fiancé.

In France, racer Aulaurd boards the ship, seeing Tonya. Her plan is to get the backing of the National Woman's Suffrage Association (NWSA) in New York and compete in the second Indy 500 -- which Claude plans to win! An unruly attack on Tonya's character by Claude catches the attention of Italian painter Renaldi Eallonardo, a futurist bringing several of his famous works to a Chicago gallery.

Elsewhere, Philip and elder brother Endar argue about the direction of Mother Russia just before coming aboard and assisting a poor Turkish family riding Titanic to escape the outbreaks of violence in their country. Philip, the young brother, is attracted to the daughter, Adalet, and has romance on his mind.

Jossef and his men, for three days now, have been searching for Pelegrine's Egyptian fish-charm After more arguing, Claude challenges Eallonardo to a duel. An extremely one-sided duel begins; crowds from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class watch. The samurai, finding the fight unfair, soon intervenes, and when the Frenchman reaches for a gun, it's Tonya who saves the day, knocking the nasty racer unconscious. Tagoshi is indebted to her. As he bows, a member of Jossef's archaeological dig crew notices the fish charm dangle from the samurai's neck.

Jossef practices Egyptian magics honoring the evil god Set -- from whom he seeks guidance on retrieving the fish charm (which will protect one from the evil spirits of the ocean). Claude, dazed from Tonya's conk on the head, wanders into the room and soon joins Jossef's evil cause, secretly pocketing one of the magical charms of Set before resuming a vengeful search for Tagoshi.

Tagoshi and Balderdash the parrot get to know Graham while talking about Titanic's fantastic speed. Philip and Adalet's romance continues, as does Tonya and Renaldi's (the latter couple discussing racing and art while sitting cozily in her car, which is in a storage area).

In the evening, another confrontation between Tagoshi and Claude leaves the racer once again unconscious (this time from having Balderdash thrown at him).

The shady Philip tricks Endar into a private meeting on an upper deck. While waiting, Endar hears a loud noise and witnesses large chunks of ice fall to the deck. Meanwhile, Adalet, visiting Philip's suite, catches Philip loading a gun. He locks her in the bathroom. In the hallway but a few moments later, Philip runs into Endar who reveals the Titanic is sinking! Both head to the lifeboats.

Elsewhere, Claude again attacks Tagoshi. This time Graham knocks the Frenchman out, and he quickly explains Titanic's fate.

In Tonya's suite, a crewman knocks on the door; the artist and racer refuse to answer.

When it's discovered the Turkish family cannot find their daughter, Endar decides to head back to his brother's cabin, "just in case she went there." On the way, Philip pulls a gun on his brother -- spotting this, a crewman immediately shoots Philip.

Renaldi and Tonya, finally aware of the danger, get her car, drive it to an outer deck and turn the chassis into a make-shift raft. As Renaldi defends the chassis from desperate souls who want it for themselves, Tonya falls to watery safety with it.

Jossef has his group of men lead him though the crowds, shooting any who get in their way. Jossef screams out incantations in an attempt to save his drowning men. . .

Endar frees Adalet, but apparently Philip did indeed get a shot off. Bleeding, Endar hands the girl over to Graham then departs to "be with [his] brother."

At the lifeboats, Adalet's mother and father stay aboard Titanic while brother Taner takes a seat.

Tagoshi and Balderdash hold a crying child, Graham and Adalet just ahead. Balderdash flies the child to safety when the ship breaks in half. Tagoshi attempts to save Graham and Adalet. Soon, all three drop into the ocean, but a piece of the ship drags the Samurai under water, leaving nothing but his amulet, which the two survivors grab. Crystals on the Egyptian amulet begin glowing. . .

The Titanic's down, lifeboats await rescue, and it seems our relevant survivor's are Jossef and his men, Tonya and Adalet's brother Taner. Balderdash searches for Tagoshi, calling out his name with despondent fervor.

Beyond the Sea

In the morning, beneath some debris, a crew is astonished to find Graham and Adalet holding on to one another desperately, a funnel of water swirling around them as if protecting the two from harm. In their hands, the Egyptian charm. Adalet kisses Graham upon their rescue.

Beyond the Sea

In New York, Taner is befriended by an elderly Russian woman, Beila. When Adalet and Graham arrive, Endar's widow, and Beila, the mother of Endar and Philip, offer the three a place to stay. A crewman helps them to a hansom cab, noticing the fish charm which now hangs around Adalet's neck.

At the NWSA headquarters, the women agree to back Tonya and pitch-in for a new car!

Uptown, the new extended Russian and Turkish family settle in, making a home for themselves. Ulyana (the widow), is still troubled by all of it. Meanwhile, Graham resists the budding love with Adalet.

Beyond the Sea

Jossef prepares himself and his now-zombie-like, green-eyed minions to catch Adalet, Graham, and that fish charm -- which is needed for evil god Set to enter our world. A chase through old Victorian New York (starting on the el. train and ending in the still-under-construction, eerie and gothic Woolworth Tower) ensues with the young couple on the run from followers imbued with evil, godly power.

Elsewhere, Claude -- still alive thanks solely to the Egyptian charm he stole earlier -- threatens Tonya, who wishes Renaldi were there, although Balderdash now accompanies her.

In the Egyptian realm of gods: a colossal godly figure asks an unseen man if he is willing to sacrifice himself, face death again, to save lives. The man is indeed willing, but remarks that this god, Osiris, will then be in his debt. . .

Beyond the Sea
Beyond the Sea

The family, feeling they are safe from the men who chased them, heads to Coney Island's Luna Park. Little Taner and elderly Beila go on a ride together, but both are soon seen in the clutches of Egyptian-masked Jossef! Adalet and Graham thus give up the charm against their better judgment.

With the fish charm and Isis mask joined, the door is open for the god of evil: Set rises out of the shattering tower, putting Beila and Taner in great peril.

Amidst the chaos, Ulyana saves Taner and realizes how to fill the sudden emptiness in her life.

Green-eyed zombies destroy any who do not follow Set, as a tsunami shoots towards Coney Island's shore -- lights from the park illuminate a figure riding atop this massive wave: it's Tagoshi! His samurai dress now decorated with Egyptian symbols!!

Beyond the Sea

Tagoshi soon retrieves the fish charm, tossing it to Adalet, who, with Graham, has gathered their family and all the park's patrons together. They stand, linked hand-in-hand.

"Osiris ask me to relay message to you both," Tagoshi shouts defiantly to Jossef and Set. The tsunami wave sitting upon the shore increases dramtically in size. "Today is your judgment!" A form bubbles through the waters of the wave, it is Osiris' symbol (as seen on the crate). And the wave tumbles down over all of Coney Island, dousing the fires, pulling back the followers, and ridding the world of Set, Jossef, and, once again, Tagoshi.

The glowing fish amulet protected the crowd, and it looks like Graham, Adalet, Taner, and the Russian women will indeed be a family.

In his realm, Osiris looks upon the smiling samurai. "You have done well. I am in your debt."

. . .The Indy 500 is under way: Everyone's eyes are on Tonya Delecourte -- including Balderdash's and the women of the NWSA. Claude watches too, from just a few cars back -- his eyes glowing a now-familiar green.

Claude begins edging Tonya off the track without worry of death. Then, as if by ancient magics, someone appears on the hood of the Frenchman's car.

From the crowd, Balderdash jumps for joy, "T-T-Tagoshi?!"

The samurai's appearance causes Claude to spin-out, but he gains control and chooses to continue racing, forcing off any car in his way. Balancing and jumping about on the outside of the speeding car, Tagoshi slices off Claude's helmet and shirt, and soon, the stolen charm. But Claude doesn't end his recklessness, and, in trying to win the race at the cost of others' lives, he causes his own death moments later.

Balderdash welcomes back his samurai friend -- who is now back for good!

Tonya does not win the race, but she does finish it, and, thanks to the god in debt to Tagoshi, gets a final congratulations from the spirit of Renaldi.

THE END.
