ONE: He's on a truck now, out of site of the firemen. REG CAPTION: I don't know why, but I've always been a little faster -- better
reflexes, better aim...

TWO: Larger panel. They reach the scene and firemen are preparing themselves -- the Kid stands atop the truck, ready for action. REG CAPTION: I mean, it's not, like, I've got powers. I'm just, somehow, quicker. REG CAPTION: But right now, I just can't figure what it is I'm supposed to do. THREE: Smaller panel. The firemen are working a couple of hoses at the building; one fireman stops near PK. REG CAPTION: What...can...I...d-- ?! FIREMAN: Search the area! Hey, Phantom Kid, right? This old place has no power coming into it. |

FIREMAN 2: This was arson!
FOUR:
Same as panel three in size, with inset (see below).
PK spots some kids running away...
REG CAPTION: I keep running into these guys --
INSET: one kid is tossing matches over his shoulder
REG CAPTION 2: --aw, geez.
PAGE 8ONE:
Lopez sits alone in his run-down apartment (not that he can't afford better, but we'll get to that another day), sitting at a table with the light on above him. He's looking over some papers.
SFX: Rrring!
TWO:
Lopez on phone now.
LOPEZ: Go ahead, "Grissom," what've ya' got, hm?
LOPEZ 2: Heh...I know your "ring" that's how...Nothing? Great, just great.
LOPEZ 3: No, when we found the couple, the first officer on the scene said Phantom Kid was spotted exiting. I never expected his involvement, but I was hoping there'd be - mmm - some proof they didn't off each other...
PAGE 9ONE:
PK is sliding, by his hands, down a fire escape ladder, his feet out below him...
LOPEZ CONT'D - CAPTION: "...Just something to, you know, tie in those kids in the Muerté gang."
TWO:
PK catches up, grabbing the hood of a fleeing gang member.
| NOTE TO ARTIST: Remember, they wear bandanas to cover a symbolic tattoo on their foreheads. |

THREE:
PK swings the guy he nabs into some trash cans as his friend keeps running.
FOUR:
The gang kid takes out a gun, aims it at PK.
PHANTOM KID (quietly): Oh shhheef!
FIVE:
PK does a cartwheel towards him as he shoots.
REG CAPTION:
I was ready for that, I mean, sorta...
PAGE 10ONE:
PK's kicked the gun out of the other kid's hand.
REG CAPTION:
Cartwheels look silly, but it caught the guy off guard.
TWO:
PK grabs the kid (for the record, this particular kid is white or black, not Hispanic -- the Muertés should be depicted as a non-discriminatory murdering band of scum).
PHANTOM KID: Why'd you set fire to the building?
REG CAPTION: What else am I supposed to say, "Fear me, oh evil-doer"?

GANG KID: Doesn't matter. It's too late. He's already dead. THREE: PK reacts to that ... PK: What?!... FOUR: PK: Who's dead? |

FIVE:
The gang member pulls off his bandana to reveal the tattoo (symbol to be determined with artist).
GANG KID: You. You are dead.
SIX:
PK punches him -- hard.
SEVEN:
PK (thought balloon): He's out. I'll bring him to the scene, let the firemen and cops take care of--
SFX: c-click!
EIGHT:
A good crowd of gang members have gathered behind PK. One holds a gun. All of them have their bandanas off, showing off their tats, which glow in the dark.
GUN GUY: Relax, m' friend, I ain't gonna shoot--
GUN GUY 2: --we want this to last.
